Announcing Easy Tiering and Replication to Microsoft Azure Archive Blob Storage with Igneous

Azure Archive Blob Storage is Azure’s lowest-priced tier yet, meant for data that is infrequently accessed but must be stored for long periods of time due to internal or external data retention requirements. This data may include employee data, medical records, financial records, and backups.

When might you use Azure Archive Blob Storage? Here are two use cases:

Use Case 1: Tiering backups to Azure

After the retention time for backups expire on Igneous Hybrid Storage Cloud, enterprises may want to offload the backups to a low cost storage tier such as Azure Archive Blob Storage. This is useful when you want data on the LAN for fast recovery and can handle delays for older data.

Use Case 2: Replicating data

Enterprises may want to keep up-to-date copies of data in public cloud as a disaster recovery strategy. Azure Archive Blob Storage provides an economical solution to prepare for the worst and protect your business against data loss.
